Paul Revere successfully spread the word that the British were coming ...
William Dawes, who also rode that night... did not.
Why the difference? The messages were the same!
-------------------------------------------------
The difference was:
Paul Revere was KNOWN both in Boston and for miles around Boston; he was not only KNOWN - he was well KNOWN and...
William Dawes was known only within Boston.
Paul Revere could simply say the British are coming and people responded!
William Dawes had to introduce himself before saying the British are coming and people still did not respond!
